The boom at Indonesia kill many people

The family of a young woman fighting for her life in a Thai hospital have thanked the dozens of strangers who queued up to donate pints of blood to help her. Lucy Hill, 21, is currently in a critical condition in hospital in Chiang Mai after suffering a broken pelvis and brain haemorrhage when a car collided with her moped in Bangkok. The university graduate, from Bury, was just six days into the trip of a lifetime when she was involved in a crash on Saturday afternoon. She is suffering with anaemia following surgery and is in desperate need of rare ‘A Negative’ blood - which doctors say is in short supply in Thailand. Less than one per cent of Thai people have ‘negative’ blood types so Lucy’s family and friends launched a social media campaign to try and find Western travellers or ex-pats who may have the same blood type. Lucy’s aunt Susan Raleigh says the family have been overwhelmed by the kindness of strangers who queued up at the Rajavej Chiang Mai Hospital to donate their blood from 6am on Monday
